Today we wrapped up Week 2 of JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) Camp at Georgia Military College. On Sunday, we welcomed 214 motivated cadets from 19 different schools across the state of Georgia for a weeklong camp. We are proud to host these future leaders and support them through hands-on leadership training, while on our campus.

JCLC camp at GMC is an experience that pushes these young leaders and allows them to learn all about teamwork, critical thinking, and discipline. Under the guidance of experienced military instructors and JROTC leaders, the cadets were able to gain skills in teamwork by participating in an obstacle course and building their own rafts, enhance their knowledge in water safety when learning to canoe and turning a pair of pants into a life jacket, and gaining technical skills when learning how to fly drones and how to read a map.

JCLC camp at GMC offers students the opportunity for fellowship and to create friendships that will last a lifetime, and we can’t wait to welcome cadets back next year!

Another U.S. Service Academy appointment for a Georgia Military College Cadet! 🇺🇸⭐️

Cadet Jimmie McCants has earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point! He joined GMC as a self-sponsored scholar last year, and came back this year to pursue his dream again. McCants went on not only to achieve that goal, but set a remarkable standard of excellence during his time at Georgia Military College.

As Regimental Executive Officer, the second-highest ranking cadet at GMC, and the number one-ranked cadet in the Junior College Corps of Cadets, Jimmie has led with distinction while also serving as President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Captain of the Glee Club.

His dedication and leadership were recognized at commencement, where he was named a Distinguished Graduate and received the Outstanding Leadership Award, one of the highest honors awarded by the Commandant of Cadets.

This fall, Jimmie will continue his journey at the United States Military Academy at West Point after earning an appointment to the Academy. He plans to pursue a career as a field trauma surgeon in the United States Army.

Leadership, teamwork, and adventure were on full display this week at Georgia Military College's first JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) Camp of the summer! 🇺🇸💪

JROTC students from 19 different schools across Central and South Georgia, including GMC Prep School, came together for a week filled with hands-on learning, leadership development, and unforgettable experiences. Cadets tackled obstacle courses, mastered land navigation using maps, compasses, and protractors, rappelled from the rappel tower, learned survival skills like turning their pants into a life jacket, and spent time at the lake practicing canoeing and water safety.

Throughout the week, these students challenged themselves, built confidence, strengthened teamwork skills, and created lasting memories alongside fellow cadets from across the region.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s JCLC Camp a success!

Today, we proudly celebrated the commissioning of our newest Second Lieutenants in the United States Army! 🇺🇸

After completing two years in Georgia Military College’s ROTC program, these cadets officially took the oath to serve as 2LTs in the U.S. Army, continuing GMC’s long tradition of developing leaders of character and service.

We were also honored to welcome guest speaker and Georgia Military College alumnus Class of 2000, Colonel Nate Stone, who shared words of encouragement and leadership with our graduating cadets. Before he was the Commander of Georgia's National Guard 48th Infantry Brigade, he was a Cadet at GMC, beginning his career the same as our new Second Lieutenants we celebrated today.

Congratulations to each of our new officers on this incredible achievement. Your dedication, discipline, and commitment to leadership have prepared you well for the journey ahead, and the entire GMC family is proud of you!

Georgia Military College proudly celebrated its annual Matriculation Ceremony honoring our Service Academy Scholars! 🇺🇸🎖️

This year marks another historic milestone for GMC’s Service Academy Preparatory Program, as 84 of 92 cadets earned appointments to one of our Nation’s five U.S. Service Academies — including an incredible 100% appointment rate for our sponsored cadets, which is a first in GMC history.

This year also marked a major program milestone, surpassing 500 total service academy appointments since the program began in 2011-12 — now reaching 506 appointments and counting.

We are proud of these outstanding cadets for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving our nation. The future is bright, and GMC is honored to help prepare the next generation of military leaders. 🇺🇸

A wonderful tribute for a great leader! 🇺🇸
