When Linda Thurmond Keelan arrived at Georgia College in 1968, the campus was undergoing a historic transition to co-education. Immersing herself entirely in student life, Linda served as layout editor for The Colonnade, sang in the Chorale, cheerled, and represented the institution as Miss Georgia College 1970 at the Miss Georgia pageant.

Alongside her campus involvement, Linda was part of GCSU’s historic second nursing graduating class in 1971. The rigorous, fast-paced Associate Degree in Nursing program required long hospital shifts, night research, and strict professional discipline, instilling a resilience that paved the way for her remarkable 47-year career in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Her career spanned critical roles, from serving as Medical Coordinator for Red Cross Blood Services to managing global safety operations for major pharmaceutical firms, ultimately retiring as Vice President of Drug Safety for a biomedical company in Connecticut.

"The strictness led us to be very resilient and prepared later in the workforce," Linda reflected. "GC was such a nurturing place. It truly was a second family."

We honor Linda’s pioneering spirit, executive leadership, and lifelong commitment to advancing global patient safety!
