Strong universities create strong communities.

According to a new study, Georgia College & State University generated more than $360 million in economic impact across Central Georgia last year, up more than $27 million from 2024. Reflecting the university's role as a major employer, talent pipeline and economic driver for the region, this growth comes as GCSU welcomes its largest incoming class ever this fall. Its impact continues to expand both on campus and throughout Georgia.

Between golf cart rides, conversations and helping students get to class, President Cox shared a reminder about this afternoon's events:
• Meet Your Major at 2:30 p.m.
• Convocation from 4 to 5 p.m.
• Convocation Picnic inside the MAX beginning at 5 p.m.

A new semester brings new opportunities for growth, discovery and impact. 🙌

At Georgia College & State University, students are encouraged to engage beyond the classroom through research, study abroad, service learning, leadership opportunities and involvement across campus.

In her welcome message, President Cathy Cox encourages students to "explore, collaborate and learn by doing" and experience firsthand what makes GCSU different.

The largest first-year class in Georgia College history spent GCSU Gives Day 2026 making a difference throughout Milledgeville and Baldwin County. 💚

The Class of 2030 partnered with more than 30 community organizations across the county, volunteering their time, supporting local initiatives and connecting with the community they now call home.

GCSU Gives Day is more than a day of service. It's a chance for students to begin their college journey by giving back and building relationships that strengthen our community.

Thank you to all of our community partners for welcoming our newest Bobcats, and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Gives Day successful.
