On August 30, seven faculty and staff members (five of whom are WLC alumni!) were installed by Rev. Greg Lyon during our Opening Worship Service in the Time of Grace Center: Prof. Kristin Annoye, Business; Prof. Santiago Botero, Professional Counseling; Ms. Lexi Caira ’18, Admissions; Mrs. Jenny Goodman ’17, Residence Life; Prof. Brynn Hill ’21, Nursing; Prof. John Manley ’13, English; and Prof. Sam Wrobel ’10, Sport and Recreation Management. May the Lord bless their service at Wisconsin Lutheran College!

In the vastness of God’s creation, it can be easy to feel small. Why would God care about one person in such a massive world?

That was the question Pastor Lyon explored in our first Chapel of the academic year this morning through Psalm 8.

His reminder to our campus community: You were made to be more than a speck. You were made for God. You are a valued child of God, created in His image, and Jesus gave His life for you.

It was a meaningful beginning to this week’s Chapel theme, Rooted in Christ, as we return to the foundational truths that shape who we are at WLC.

Chapel is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m.

Leading by serving. 💚

Before the rest of our campus community arrives for the fall semester, our Resident Assistants (RAs) were already hard at work — not just prepping the residence halls, but serving in our local community. During their annual Service Day, our RA team spent time lending a hand at Saint Lucas Lutheran School.

Dr. Michael Berg, Associate Professor of Theology at WLC, spent most of July training pastors and healthcare workers in Malawi and Zambia in “Friendship Ministry.” This is a program started by Dr. Stephen Saunders (Marquette) that teaches lay people in basic cognitive behavior therapy skills. They were joined by Dr. Berg's wife, Amanda, Christa Potratz (WLC alumna and wife of WLC Biochemistry Professor, Dr. Jeff Potratz), and Christa's mother, Charlotte Krause, who worked at the Mwembezhi Medical Mission in Zambia in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Emma, a 2025 WLC Nursing grad, shared a cool story about her nursing career and the ongoing training she's received through the Mile Bluff Birthing Center.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐟! Our Birthing Center staff recently completed 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬® 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, with another group scheduled to participate. This valuable training provides techniques and insights to better support moms and babies throughout labor and delivery.

Emma, one of our dedicated Birthing Center RNs, shares her journey into nursing, what inspired her career choice, and how this educational opportunity has helped her grow professionally while enhancing the care we provide to families in our community.
