What if an airbrush that can give you sunless tanning also help detect disease?
First-year student Anh Le is creating tiny, jelly-like beads that could one day power biosensors. But, instead of using expensive lab equipment, An and mentor Ashwin Narasimhan are using a simple airbrush tool to make these microscopic beads.

They spray a body-safe liquid into a solution. As the droplets travel from the airbrush, UV light transforms them into soft gel beads – smaller than a grain of sand. By tweaking things like spray distance and air pressure, the team created these valuable beads without the high cost.

How cool is this? Happy John Kissinger Day! We are so proud of this alum who has accomplished so much in his career, and made a difference to so many.

Our Milwaukee office had the honor of welcoming Mayor Cavalier Johnson, who presented a mayoral proclamation recognizing the distinguished career and retirement of John Kissinger. The proclamation officially designates April 14, 2026, as John H. Kissinger Day in the City of Milwaukee.

Over nearly four decades at GRAEF, John helped deliver landmark projects across Milwaukee while shaping spaces that strengthen the city and serve the people who call it home. His leadership also influenced generations of engineers and helped guide GRAEF’s commitment to service and excellence.

The proclamation of John H. Kissinger Day on 414 Day feels especially meaningful for someone whose career has been so deeply intertwined with Milwaukee’s growth and future.

Thank you, John, for your vision, leadership, and lasting impact. Here’s to John H. Kissinger Day!🎉
