Lubar alum Gabrielle Naomi Armon-Wickers pursued a major in Finance because she "grew up seeing how a lack of financial knowledge could impact generations. I may not be able to undo centuries of inequality, but I can learn, teach and help ensure the cycle doesn’t repeat.”

Gabrielle Naomi Armon-Wickers started learning about investing simply because she liked it. Now, she wants to use her career to help not just herself, but also others in the Black community.

Congratulations to Yusuf Mayowa Raji, a Lubar doctoral student in finance. He recently passed his dissertation proposal "The Causal Effects of Labor Force Demographic Growth on Local Economic Outcomes: Evidence from Housing and Banking Markets." His research examines how predictable changes in labor force demographics affect local housing and banking markets in the United States. The dissertation provides evidence that demographic growth influences housing prices, rental markets, and competition among local banks, highlighting the important role of demographic structure in shaping economic outcomes.
