The Trinity Fellows Program of Marquette University was created in keeping with an ideal central to the university’s mission - the promotion of justice and faith through service - to develop urban leaders with a commitment to social and economic justice. Trinity Fellows participate in a 21-month study/work program while earning Master’s degrees in a variety of fields. Fellows are expected to compl

ete their Master’s program in two years. In addition to their full time studies, Fellows work in meaningful, substantive projects designed by selected nonprofit organizations in the Milwaukee area. All Fellows must have completed full-time volunteer service in the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, or other comparable volunteer organization, OR have worked 2+ years full-time in a nonprofit organization.

Today’s orientation theme: Rooted in Community! 🌳

Today, we had the opportunity to learn more about the work being done with the Near West Side Partners, Inc. Lindsey St. Arnold Bell gave a tour of Concordia 27, which is a shining example of what can happen when communities uplift, trust and respond to their residents, and engage all their stakeholders in meaningful and intentional ways.

We also got to fill our cups (and caffeinate our bodies! ☕️) at Fruition MKE. Not only do they serve a great latte, they have a delicious breakfast and lunch menu.

A wonderful day of seeing our community in action! 💙💛💙💛

Day Two of orientation brought together Trinity’s past, present, and future.

We were grateful to welcome Trinity alum Chris Due and Sophia Torrijos from the Burke Foundation, who shared the legacy of Dick Burke and reminded us that the Trinity community is a tapestry woven across generations. Each new cohort adds its own threads while becoming part of something much larger.

A community doesn’t arrive fully formed. It is something we build together.

On Day One of orientation, our newest Fellows shared pieces of their stories, explored what it means to be a Fellow, and began imagining the kind of community they hope to create together.

We’re grateful to Dr. Scott D’Urso and Tom Marek from the Graduate School for joining us in welcoming them into the wider Marquette community.

The work toward a more just world is collective. So is the learning. 💙💛

The start and the end, memories waiting to be made, and memories we'll hold onto for a lifetime. The Trinity Fellows community continues to grow, connecting generations of leaders committed to serving and strengthening our community. The cycle continues, and we're honored to be part of the journey.

July Reflection at Southshore Park! Our 2nd Year Fellows were asked "What would make these final 10 months meaningful?" The countdown is real!

One of the activities we facilitated during our Trinity Supervisor Orientation invited theattendees to use Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as a framework for creating their fellow onboarding plans. We asked a simple question: How can we welcome a fellow in a way that ensures their needs are met from day one?

We love the thoughtful and practical ideas that emerged:

🔹 Physical Needs: Share a map of nearby restaurants, point out where to find snacks and the beloved Wisconsin bubbler.

🔹 Safety Needs: Introduce fellows to 24/7 security staff and review procedures and resources that help them feel safe and supported.

🔹 Belonging: Organize a welcome lunch with key staff during the first week to help fellows build relationships and feel part of the team. Also, provide branded swag!

🔹 Esteem: Create opportunities to celebrate their contributions at the agency, as well as their accomplishments as graduate students.

🔹 Self-Actualization: Offer professional development opportunities aligned with their interests and provide space for reflection throughout the fellowship.

We believe great supervision starts with understanding the whole person. We are grateful for site supervisors who are intentional about creating environments where fellows can contribute, and grow into the leaders they want to be. 💙💛
