One of the first athletic trainers at Marquette University was legendary Indiana AT Dwayne "Spike"Dixon in the late 30's early 40's. Spike was followed by Bob Weingart, who ran Marquette Athletic Training for 38 years from1946-1984, and is now in the WATA Hall of Fame. Bob Weingart was succeeded by another WATA Hall of Famer, our beloved David Leigh, who took the reigns in 1984, and continued as H
ead Athletic Trainer until the mid 2000's, when he moved first part time, and later full time into the academic realm. Dave retired in 2018 when the program transitioned from a Bachelor's degree to a Master of Athletic Training program. We continue the legacy of these great Athletic Trainers with a robust curriculum, elite and individually tailored clinical experiences, and graduates set to live the Jesuit ideals of "cura personalis", or "care of the whole person."
