🌎 Three of our students were at the center of the PR world this week!

👥 Seniors Ellie Golko and Mia Garcia-Morici, as well as junior Bella Gruber, attended the PRWeek Conference in Chicago. Only a few dozen students across the country were selected to attend.

🤝 They got to attend the conference's student networking breakfast as well as the learning sessions that came afterward. Our future strategic comms pros gained insight from speakers representing The Obama Foundation, Edelman, Patagonia, Wells Fargo and more.

💨 Strategic communication students and alumni have a long history of success in Chicago, from directing public relations for Navy Pier to founding their own agencies. We're so proud that three of our best and brightest are following in their footsteps!

Thanks to our partners at Plum Media for hosting our students on their local Diederich Experience visit!

Getting to go behind the scenes of an award-winning local video production agency is an invaluable experience for these students, one that is sure to stay with them as they move forward into their careers. It's all thanks to our incredible alumni that they get to do cool things like this!

This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Marquette University Television 📺

Established in 1976, MUTV has been the training ground for hundreds of successful professionals across industries — journalism, film, advertising, marketing, post-production and sports, just to name a few. Our students get to learn in multiple television studios (including an all-virtual set) while using state-of-the-art cameras and technical direction equipment 🎥

The technology has changed quite a bit since MUTV's founding, but the concept hasn't: real shows, real stories, all managed by students.

Meet our 2026 Axthelm Scholarship winner: Olive Weber!

📚 Olive is pursuing a degree in advertising.

🇪🇸 She’s currently studying abroad in Barcelona.

🏀 She has spent the last two years working as a social media intern for Marquette Athletics. She’s also a student alumni ambassador and communication director for the Marquette chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.

🍀 Her dream job is working for the Boston Celtics creative team.

Each year, the Axthelm Scholarship is presented to an outstanding undergraduate student who wants to work in sports. The judges were impressed with Olive’s polished creative product, variety of experience and passion for her work. Congratulations, Olive!

In “When Migrants Become Political Pawns,” Professor Dr. Sumana Chattopadhyay analyzes the U.S. migrant busing crisis of 2022 as a case study to examine ideas of nativism, identity politics, divisive rhetoric and the red-blue-purple political divide in the context of media coverage of immigration issues.

Our Family Weekend Concert set the tone for a great year, with symphonic band and wind ensemble playing to a great crowd of students and parents.

If you haven't been to one of our orchestra, chorus or ensemble performances before, this is your sign to go! We've got a couple of them coming up in October:

🎻 Orchestra will be playing in the Varsity Theatre at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11

🎶 Marquette and UWM chorus will perform together for WPR Classical Music Day at the Bradley Symphony Center at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14

🎷 Jazz ensembles are playing on Friday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in the Marquette Annex.

All concerts are free and open to the public!

Marquette Theatre will present “The Seagull,” a play by Anton Chekhov, beginning this Friday, to kick off its 2026-27 season, themed “Finding the Path.”

“The Seagull” is a humorous tragedy about unrequited love, the challenges of art and unfulfilled potential — it’s a must see! It runs from Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 8-11.
