MCW School of Pharmacy The MCW School of Pharmacy offers a 3-year PharmD curriculum at an academic medical center.

The vision for the MCW School of Pharmacy is to engage learners, practitioners, and researchers to transform health care through the continuum of discovery and the advancement of innovative pharmacy practice and patient care models. MCW’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates have the knowledge and expertise to practice at the "top of their license" and contribute to patient-centered care within a

team-based model ensuring optimal medication therapy outcomes in concert with other healthcare professionals. MCW’s PharmD graduates are:

Vital members of the healthcare team in the improvement of patient outcomes; key providers in chronic disease management; strategists in helping to ensure medication adherence through monitoring and point-of-care technologies; partners with patients to help ensure health and wellness across their lifespan; and providers in achieving the Triple Aim – better care, better health, lower cost.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month. We invite you to support the MCW School of Pharmacy's team at the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk.

The walk takes place on Saturday, October 10 at Veterans Park in Milwaukee. This is our 10th year participating and supporting su***de prevention efforts!

MCW PharmD students, alumni and faculty attended the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW) Annual Meeting in Wisconsin Dells.

The event included the Student Pharmacist Leadership Forum, featuring discussions and real-world leadership insights.

Faculty Dr. Kajua Lor and Dr. Mathew Letizia presented "Rx Social Connect: A Pharmacist Led Model to Address Social Isolation and Loneliness." This presentation was in partnership with community partner Kaisa Kerrigan, community health coordinator for Milwaukee County.

This week in pharmaceutics lab 🧪 Our first-year students learned to compound zinc oxide — an antiseptic ointment for the skin. Techniques they used include:

• Spatulation: gently mixing the ointment on a tile using a spatula

• Levigation: used to reduce a powder's particle size and eliminate grittiness by grinding a solid with a small amount of a viscous liquid to form a smooth, uniform paste
