MCW School of Pharmacy The MCW School of Pharmacy offers a 3-year PharmD curriculum at an academic medical center.

The vision for the MCW School of Pharmacy is to engage learners, practitioners, and researchers to transform health care through the continuum of discovery and the advancement of innovative pharmacy practice and patient care models. MCW’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates have the knowledge and expertise to practice at the "top of their license" and contribute to patient-centered care within a team-based model ensuring optimal medication therapy outcomes in concert with other healthcare professionals. MCW’s PharmD graduates are:

Vital members of the healthcare team in the improvement of patient outcomes; key providers in chronic disease management; strategists in helping to ensure medication adherence through monitoring and point-of-care technologies; partners with patients to help ensure health and wellness across their lifespan; and providers in achieving the Triple Aim – better care, better health, lower cost.

Learn about MCW's 3-year accelerated PharmD at Discovery Day!

Future Doctor of Pharmacy students are invited to the MCW-Milwaukee campus to:

• engage in a pharmaceutical compounding activity
• tour classroom and lab spaces
• participate in a Q&A with current students and more!

Attendees who submit their application for the 2027-2028 school year will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Our chapter of the APhA-ASP - American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists came together for an engaging Science Night focused on the role pharmacists play in protecting and supporting our communities.

They taught children and community members about the pharmacist's role in poison control, poison prevention and the ways pharmacists help promote medication safety.

"Events like this allow us to connect pharmacy education with real-world community impact and highlight the many ways pharmacists contribute to safer, healthier communities," said Farah Mohammed, 2028 PharmD candidate.

Thank you to the Medical College of Wisconsin's student organization STEM Outreach and Community Engagement (SOCE) for collaborating with us and to everyone who participated in making the event a success.

Our PY2 pharmacy students collaborated with MSOE School of Nursing students in an interprofessional activity on Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. The simulation took place in MCW’s STAR Center, which includes advanced robotic manikins.

Teams of pharmacy and nursing students assessed the patient, administered CPR and delivered treatment. Afterwards, they watched a recording of themselves and debriefed about ACLS protocols and the level of teamwork and communication during the activity.

Medical College of Wisconsin students across all three Schools are benefiting from a new interprofessional education opportunity to learn from professionals at Pfizer about the full scope of the drug discovery process – from recognizing unmet medical needs, to performing clinical trials and managing challenges that arise from going to market.

Saumya Shukla, 2028 PharmD candidate and president of MCW's student chapter of the Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO) valued that the workshop reinforced why pharmacists are crucial within the pharmaceutical industry.

“Pharmacists understand both the science behind medications and how those medications are ultimately used in patient care,” Shukla said. “Their training allows them to bridge the gap between researchers developing a therapy, healthcare professionals prescribing it and patients using it.”
