The Humphrey School of Public Affairs has launched a first-of-its-kind accelerated graduate pathway partnership for the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with St. Catherine University that will allow qualified St. Kate's undergraduate students to complete both their bachelor’s degree and a Humphrey School master’s degree in five years.

Humphrey School Dean Nisha Botchwey, St. Catherine University President Marcheta Evans and Provost Denise Baird signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the specifics of the new Accelerated Pathways Program (APP) on May 7. Find out more: https://bit.ly/4ubdcTH

How should rural communities navigate the data center boom? Humphrey School assistant professor Elise Harrington is leading a collaborative project with the University of Minnesota Law School, University of Minnesota Extension, the Freshwater Society, and three southeastern Minnesota cities to help local leaders make informed decisions about data center siting.

The project is developing a toolkit that equips city administrators with frameworks for weighing energy demands, water use, environmental impacts, and economic opportunity, without prescribing a yes-or-no answer.

"We want to prepare city leaders to make the best possible decision for their unique community, and we want to put them in a proactive position to negotiate with data center developers," says Harrington.
