UMN Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research The University of Minnesota (UMN) Udall Center is one of nine Morris K. Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research

The mission of the University of Minnesota (UMN) Udall Center is to conduct research that improves the understanding of and develops better treatments for patients with Parkinson's disease. The overall goal of the UMN Udall Center is to define the changes in the brain circuitry in Parkinson’s disease and use this information to develop new deep brain stimulation approaches and improve the lives of patients with Parkinson's disease.

The documentary "Come Talk to ME," which explores the communication challenges of living with Parkinson’s disease, is featured in this year’s Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF).

🎬 Film Details:
Filmmaker Deacon Warner follows Parkinson’s disease (PD) activist Jackie Hunt Christensen, who works tirelessly to overcome communication barriers that people with PD face daily. Unable to speak or write, Christensen, and many others, face numerous hurdles in their personal relationships, work, and healthcare providers.

A nationally respected leader in movement disorders, Dr. Paul Tuite is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota and founder of the university’s Movement Disorders Division. His career includes pivotal contributions to the FDA approval of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and leadership in the SPARX3 treadmill study. Dr. Tuite is passionate about exercise, whole‑person care, and the essential role of life coaching in the Parkinson’s journey.
