Thomas “Tom” Myers Grady passed away on May 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of distinguished service, leadership, and lifelong dedication to education and the people of North Carolina.

Professor of Psychology Dr. Don Poe participated in his last Pfeiffer graduation ceremony earlier this month. He says he owes his distinguished career to several factors. The first was his response to a false start in the 1960s during his first two years at Duke University. He had enrolled in its College of Engineering (now the Edmund T. Pratt Jr. School of Engineering), having followed the advice of his high school guidance counselor in northern Virginia. The counselor had told Poe that the country needed more engineers. Pfeiffer University has been awarded a $75,754 NetVUE Program Development Grant to support a two-year initiative focused on deepening vocational exploration and discernment among undergraduate students.

The project, titled “Advancing Purpose: Building a Community of Shared Vocational Exploration,” will strengthen Pfeiffer’s commitment to purpose-centered education by reframing vocation and leadership as shared, community-centered responsibilities rather than solely individual pursuits. Join us in giving a big round of applause to the Class of 2026 as we warmly welcome them to the Pfeiffer University Alumni Association! 👏🎉

We are also proud to celebrate an outstanding milestone. Our Class of 2026 has surpassed its Senior Campaign goal. This meaningful initiative invited seniors and their families to honor their class with a gift of $20.26 or more, symbolizing their graduating year. The campaign goal was $2,026.

Thanks to the generosity of 45 donors, the Class of 2026 Senior Campaign raised an impressive $2,145, exceeding their goal! 👏

This is just the beginning, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing things this class will accomplish.
