MSU President Mark E. Keenum welcomed senior leadership from Mississippi Veterans Affairs and the Friends of Mississippi Veterans to campus today to strengthen the partnership between MSU and MS VA as we continue to be one of the most military-friendly schools in the country.

Vietnam War veteran, prisoner of war (POW) and author Carlyle “Smitty” Harris died on Sunday.

Great day at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Center for America’s Veterans where we celebrated and recognized our graduating military-connected students. During part of the event, we were honored to have Mr. Sid Salter from the Sonny Montgomery Foundation board present the annual Montgomery Leadership Scholarship to Emily Mackey (accepted by her husband Matt Mackey) and Montgomery Academic Scholarship to Eric Escobedo. Both Emily and Eric are students here at MSU. (Mr. Sid Salter serves as the MSU VP for Strategic Communications and Director of Public Affairs).
