🐦 Birds are incredible animals – many move seasonally across great distances in an often-perilous journey known as migration. These seasonal events require extreme physiological adaptations in birds. Although there has historically been much interest in avian migration, new methods of tracking these amazing animals have given researchers some rather impressive (and almost unbelievable!) insights into the science of bird migration.

🐦 Join us to learn a bit about the history of the study of bird migration, what we know about how birds accomplish these incredible journeys, and how scientists are trying to understand and protect migratory birds.

Exciting news for Mobile County Public schools! The Tran Lab is proud to have worked over the past year on an outreach project sponsored by the American Society of Plant Biologists to develop interactive teaching materials that help K–12 students learn about plant growth and stress tolerance in extraterrestrial (Lunar & Martian) soil.
Our material is now ready for distribution to middle schools in Mobile, inviting students to explore the possibilities of growing life beyond Earth! Huge thank to our grad student Jill Presel for her dedication to this initiative! 🎉
