Wishing you all a meaningful Memorial Day from the Delta Theta Omega Chapter!

Today, we honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, with special remembrance for our beloved AKA Sisters whose sacrifice helped preserve the freedoms we hold dear. May we never forget their strength, selflessness, and unwavering dedication. As we spend today surrounded by those we love, let us also carry forward the values and legacy they fought to protect. 🪽💕💚

Delta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is thrilled to celebrate our 2026 South Eastern Region 40 Under 40 nominee, Soror Lakeidra Tamara Mims — a visionary leader, compassionate advocate, and shining example of Service to All Mankind.

Professionally, Soror Lakeidra is a powerhouse. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW‑S), Accredited Case Manager (ACM‑SW), and Social Work Supervisor for the Care Transition Department at UAB, she leads with excellence, empathy, and unmatched dedication. Her career spans trauma services, child and family advocacy, and clinical leadership — always centering the vulnerable and underserved.

Within Delta Theta Omega, Soror Lakeidra is known for her energy, reliability, and heart for sisterhood. She currently serves as Co‑Chair of the Generation Next Committee, and her service record includes Membership, January Hostess, Pink Goes Red, Connection & Social Action, Sisterly Relations, and Empower Our Families. She has also contributed her talents to the 92nd South Eastern Regional Conference through Media Relations/Communications and Registration.

Her commitment to community is equally inspiring, serving faithfully at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church and Miracle Temple Christian Center. Her gifts in conflict resolution, project management, and event planning strengthen both our chapter and the communities we serve.

We proudly honor Soror Lakeidra as a true 40 Under 40 trailblazer — a woman whose professional excellence, sisterly spirit, and unwavering dedication embody the very best of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Happy Mother’s Day to all women who mother, nurture, guide, protect, teach, encourage, and love in any capacity. Today, we celebrate mothers, grandmothers, bonus moms, aunties, sisters, godmothers, mentors, caregivers.
Your love, wisdom, prayers, sacrifices, and strength are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated.
A special note of love to those whose mothers are now angels: may today bring you comfort, beautiful memories, and peace in knowing that a mother’s love never truly leaves us, but lives on in our hearts, stories, and the legacy she left behind.

On this day, we did more than step pretty…we made a FIRST move that secured the legacy.
January 29, 1913 — led by the visionary and fearless member Nellie M. Quander, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® became officially incorporated and protected.
113 years later, we’re still benefiting from that bold decision—built on Principle, Preservation, and Perpetuity.

This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Jan. 19, 2026), the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Delta Theta Omega Chapter came together for our annual “We Are One” AKA Day of Service. Watch the video to see how our chapter donated hygiene essentials to Mobile County Training School’s hygiene closet,
These everyday items are often overlooked, but they’re so important to students’ self-esteem, comfort, and confidence-especially for students living in communities impacted by poverty. Thanks to the support of our members, we collected enough supplies to help cover students’ needs for the rest of the school year.
