We just concluded the Spanish for First Responders training for Police Officers, taught by Barbara Hopkins. This first of its kind training endorsed by the Beaver County District Attorney's office was designed to assist emergency responders to ask questions, understand responses and give instructions to Spanish speaking people in their own language. Participants gained knowledge of the basic components of the Spanish language, ask appropriate emergency assessment questions, give emergency related instructions, and provide assurance and comfort to victims. Our instructor did a phenomenal job teaching this enjoyable and informative class and our fellow police officers were engaged and demonstrated such commitment to learn Spanish so that they can better serve the community.
