The CAS Department wants to congratulation Nhung Vu for two reasons. Nhung recently defended her dissertation titled, "The influence of individual mood, mood similarity, and mood convergence in supportive interactions", which considered multiple ways people's moods shape their perceptions of comforting conversations. The dissertation was advised by Professor Andrew High. She followed that successful defense by landing a job as an associate consultant in market research at ZS, which is a global management consulting and technology firm. Huge congratulations, Nhung!

As a Speech Assistant for 3 years, many COMM101 students benefited from Izzy’s knowledge, feedback, and empathy. In her Senior year, she designed a workshop series to help students manage public speaking anxiety. She wrote her senior capstone paper on the power of deliberations in undergraduate classrooms to bolster students’ communication skills and confidence in engaging with others with a spirit of curiosity and with the goal of increasing understanding of others’ perspectives. We are simultaneously not surprised and very proud of Izzy’s recognition as a first year Graduate Teaching Assistant at ISU. Well done, Izzy!
