Have unwanted pesticides? Bring them by tomorrow for free disposal!

Union County farmers and homeowners are invited to take advantage of a free pesticide disposal event hosted by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in partnership with N.C. Cooperative Extension.

The event provides a safe, convenient way to dispose of leftover, outdated and even banned pesticides at no cost.

For 30 years, Union County 4-H has brought joy to exceptional children across Union County and Union County Public Schools through our annual Exceptional Children Holiday Parties. This special tradition brings children and volunteers together for holiday activities, games, dancing and meaningful connections.

We’re inviting our community to help make this year’s celebrations extra special through donations and volunteer service!

🎁 Help fill our holiday gift bags. Donations are needed by October 16, including:
• Individual bags of chips and fruit snacks
• Small juice boxes or Gatorade
• Individual packs of crayons or colored pencils
• Individual coloring books
• Sticker sheets

💚 Give your time. Volunteers are needed to help sort gift bags on November 23, with additional opportunities to help during the holiday parties on December 8 at Parkwood High School and December 11 at Marvin Elementary School.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Union County Center.

Whether you donate supplies or volunteer your time, you can help make the holiday season brighter for local children!

Have leftover or outdated pesticides? Dispose of them safely and at no cost!

N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, in partnership with N.C. Cooperative Extension, is hosting a pesticide disposal event to help farmers and homeowners in Union County properly dispose of unwanted pesticides.This event will be held at the Union County Agricultural Center (3230-D Presson Rd Monroe, NC 28112) from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.
