The Dingdong Express

The Dingdong Express The objective is to cultivate highly motivated undergraduate students in transdiciplinary environmental research.

‌Montclair State University (MSU) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsor an 8-week Summer Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU: Environmental Research on Forest Lakes) program at MSU's field station, New Jersey School of Conservation (NJ SOC). Ten undergraduate students are selected to participate in this hands-on, field-oriented research program centered on forest lakes in the Ki

ttatinny Mountains of Northwest New Jersey. Participants are housed in cabins at the NJ SOC located within 30,000 acres of mature forest, mountain ridges and freshwater streams and lakes. Working with faculty mentors, participants gain scientific research experience by focusing on and rotating among the following research areas:
1) Hydrology
2) Erosion and Sedimentation
3) Environmental Chemistry
4) Ecology

Participants receive a stipend of $4,000, with lodging and meals provided. The REU: Environmental Research on Forest Lakes program also cover travel expenses for participants to attend professional conferences to present studies.
