Richie Thayer first came to the University of Montevallo in 2010 as a substitute for a former law partner who taught business law as an adjunct instructor. What began as a temporary opportunity soon sparked a passion for teaching, mentoring and building genuine connections with students.

In addition to teaching business law and directing the Grainger Center for Professional Development in the Stephens College of Business, Thayer is always available to advise or just listen to students that find themselves facing struggles in college.

"I hope my students remember that: 1) I genuinely care about them; 2) I will continue to support them in their future endeavors; and 3) they must always think and speak for themselves while remaining kind and respectful to those with different views," Thayer said.
