OSB Internship Spotlight:

Meet Raena Volker, a Business Marketing major in the Class of 2028, who spent her summer interning at Scheels!

During her internship, Raena worked on uploading clothing and footwear products to Scheels.com, creating engaging product content and collaborating with the buying team on product launches, trends, and vendor partnerships. She played a key role in shaping a strong online shopping experience. One of her biggest accomplishments was uploading over 2,000 products and helping launch new brands on the site and then getting to see those brands succeed. Raena also saw how classroom concepts like consumer behavior, branding, and marketing strategy come to life in a real-world setting. Her advice? Start networking early and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. And if she could go back to day one, she’d remind herself to ask questions, try new things, and take every opportunity to learn.

As a busy student-athlete and business major, Emery Holland ’29 has learned that even her moments of free time could be intentional.

“Being a student-athlete has taught me that success does not happen overnight. Success comes from the little things, like running the extra mile at practice, keeping a positive mindset when things get tough, or studying and staying on top of assignments. What I have learned from being an athlete has helped push me in the classroom to do my best and be consistent with studying and my assignments.

One other thing I would encourage students to consider when looking at Concordia is that there are so many opportunities for scholarships and financial aid that can make a big difference in the overall cost. There are scholarships available in many different areas, as well as other forms of financial assistance for those who qualify. Once you take those opportunities into account, the cost of attending Concordia can be much more comparable to other universities than you might initially think. For me, it was definitely worth taking the time to apply and see what opportunities were available!”

Men’s soccer player Gannon Brooks ’26 excels both on the field and as an accounting and finance major.

“Come to Concordia. The people here and the students are extremely engaged in campus activities and nice to one another, and they’re willing to do a lot for each other. That’s something that you’re not able to find on every college campus. Also, the experience that you can get from the professors in the smaller class sizes is something that you’re not going to be able to get at every college.”
