It has been one year since the Nibbe Family Foundation's $5.5 million gift established the Nibbe School of Teaching & Learning!

Today's Become A Teacher Day event on campus shows the power of this gift. Over 100 high school juniors and seniors are visiting campus today to learn from faculty and current education students about teaching as a career, building on the gift's mission to recruit, retain, and graduate qualified teachers.

In the past year, the gift has provided scholarships for future educators, supported innovative teaching initiatives, expanded conference opportunities, and recognized alumni excellence.

Bret Salter '17 began advocating for Indigenous representation as an anthropology student at Moorhead. Today, Salter curates Indigenous art at the Plains Art Museum, fostering learning and connection for all who visit.

His path was shaped by hands-on opportunities and dedicated faculty mentorship that reached far beyond the classroom.

Next week, Minnesota State Moorhead will celebrate the grand reopening of Weld Hall, a landmark that has shaped generations of students.

Following its most significant renovation in more than a century, the restored building blends historic preservation with modern learning and gathering spaces, creating new opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Regional college students with innovative ideas are invited to participate in the Dragon Lair Business Plan Pitch Competition on November 17.

This event gives students from across the region the opportunity to present their concepts directly to a panel of top business leaders. Finalists will deliver a six-minute pitch, answer judges' questions, and compete for a share of $5,000 in prizes.

Applications are due October 18. Share this opportunity with forward-thinking students looking to test their ideas and bring their business concepts to life.

Congratulations to the Nibbe School of Teaching & Learning on being recognized with the 2026 Minnesota's Future Award!

The Minnesota Business Partnership awarded Moorhead students and faculty for their leadership in pioneering the Literacy Lab pilot program. The model pairs teacher candidates with elementary students for supervised, one-on-one literacy tutoring.

The MBP recognition includes a $50,000 award to support the university's work to strengthen the Literacy Lab model.

We're thrilled to feature Zach Moore as one of the inspiring speakers at next Wednesday's MSUM Takeover Day of StartupBREW Fargo on campus.

Moore is a current Cybersecurity and Computer Science double major whose drive has helped him take the tech scene by storm. Before graduating, Moore has already founded a company, stepped up as president of MSUM's Association for Computing Machinery chapter, and cut his teeth as a software developer.

Moore is on a mission to shape the future of Midwest technology. Come hear his story, learn from his experience as a student founder, and get inspired to build.
