Congratulations to Maria Aliotti, a Saint Mary’s business management alum, on her appointment as assistant city manager of Indio, California. She started her first week last week, following a recruitment that drew 111 applicants.

Maria brings more than three decades of local government experience, including service as assistant city manager, director of community services, and redevelopment manager for the city of Pittsburg. In Indio, she will work with the city manager and executive team on citywide operations, City Council and strategic plan priorities, and coordination across departments.

Please join us in celebrating 45 years of Professor Eric Kolhede

At the SEBA Faculty Recognition Dinner, Professor Eric Kolhede was honored for 45 years of teaching and service at Saint Mary's College.

As many of us know, careers like this do not happen by accident. They happen because someone decides, year after year, that Saint Mary's and Gaels are worth showing up for. Eric made that decision forty-five times over.

Many of you know him from Principles of Marketing, Applied Marketing Research, or the many other courses he has taught since 1981. He has led two departments, mentored colleagues, and guided student teams in building real marketing plans for Bay Area nonprofits like Children Rising, Hope Solutions, and the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.

His research on donor segmentation and performing arts audiences has appeared in leading journals, and a new paper on price elasticity in charitable giving is under review. Forty-five years in, he is still asking new questions.

The School of Economics and Business Administration community mourns the loss of Professor Emeritus Norm Bedford, who passed away on September 3.

For 35 years, Norm was a fixture at Saint Mary's: the colleague who always had time, the professor who genuinely cared how his students were doing, and a friend to so many across SEBA. He retired in 2018 with emeritus status, but he never really left. He stayed close to the people he worked alongside, delighting them with stories of his world travels and updates on the family he loved.

Norm's warmth and generosity shaped countless students and colleagues, and his spirit remains part of who we are as a school.

Our hearts are with his family and all who knew and loved him.

Saint Mary's: Founded 1863. Aged in Lamorinda since 1928. Pairs perfectly with your career goals.

Our graduate recruitment team swapped the admissions office for a pouring booth this weekend, and it felt like a family reunion: alumni, faculty, neighbors, current students, and a few future Gaels (who don't know it yet). Saint Mary's has been part of this community nearly 70 years longer than the festival has existed, and showing up for our neighbors is part of who we are. Thank you to the Lafayette Chamber for another great year, and to everyone who stopped by.

Atari, Pac-Man, and the birth of the video game industry 🕹️

Before Fortnite or Minecraft, there was Atari. Come hear from Ron Appin, who worked in consumer research and marketing at Atari during its early years, helping shape games like Pac-Man and Yars' Revenge before the video game industry had a playbook.

He'll talk about the console wars, what it was really like inside Silicon Valley in the 1980s, and how to stay entrepreneurial when you're building something that's never existed before.

Congratulations to Saint Mary's alum Uriel "Ose" Oseguera, elected Treasurer of Chevron Corporation, effective November 1.

Ose joined Chevron in 1990 and has spent his career building finance, treasury, and planning leadership across Venezuela, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, and the United States. He most recently served as Vice President, Upstream Business Performance and Finance, and previously led Chevron's Financial Shared Services organization. As Treasurer he will lead capital markets, corporate finance, insurance, credit, and risk management, reporting to Chief Financial Officer Eimear Bonner.

He earned his MBA at Saint Mary's, and he is part of a Gael alumni network that keeps turning up in the rooms where the hardest financial decisions get made. That is what our MBA is built for: leaders who carry responsibility with integrity, wherever the work takes them.

Congratulations, Ose. Go Gaels!
