Excellent educators are more than experts in their content, they are excellent communicators. 💬📚

At the Volgenau College of Education, our students learn to communicate with purpose: to explain ideas clearly, listen thoughtfully, build meaningful relationships, collaborate with others, and connect with learners in ways that make a lasting difference.

For our future English educators, communication is at the heart of everything they do. It is how they bring literature to life, encourage students to find their own voices, create spaces for meaningful dialogue, and help young people develop the confidence to share their ideas with the world.

VCOE students joined Dr. Gera Nelson and our Dean, Dr. Nicola Mason at Eagle Fest to kick off the new academic year and celebrate all things Morehead State! 🎉

Eagle Fest is always a great opportunity for our students to connect, get involved, and enjoy the energy that comes with the start of a new semester. We loved seeing our future educators out representing the Volgenau College of Education and showing their Eagle pride!

📚🍎 Welcome back, Student Teachers!

Today, our future educators returned to campus for Student Teacher Orientation with Dr. Alicia Day as they begin one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of their educator preparation journey.

Students also received words of encouragement from Dr. Mason and Dr. Simpson, reminding them of the incredible impact they are preparing to make in Kentucky classrooms.

The day concluded with a spectacular professional development session led by Mr. Justin Moore, Assistant Superintendent of Mason County Schools. Mr. Moore and his team continue to be dedicated partners in educator preparation, investing their time, expertise, and mentorship in the next generation of teachers.

We are incredibly grateful for their unwavering commitment to our students and for the meaningful role they play in shaping future educators. No matter the age of the learner, their dedication to education is evident.
