- Recording session @ Blues Alley on Tuesday afternoon 🎶🎧
- .traugh trombone concerto premiere on Tuesday evening with 🎵
- Field trip on Wednesday to the West Virginia & Regional History Center to check out the Jay Chattaway collection of film scores 🎬🎼

Soon-to-be WVU graduate Dr. Rob Traugh gave a presentation to the composition studio yesterday on his new trombone concerto for wind symphony. The work will be premiered next Tuesday @7:30pm in Clay, with WVU trombone professor as soloist!

Congrats to Ryan McWilliams, who completed his senior composition recital yesterday! Audience members enjoyed Ryan's original music for Celeste gameplay, in addition to works for choir, piano + electronics, small ensembles, and film scores. Thank you to all the tremendous performers who brought these works to life!

Congrats to composition faculty member Dr. Mark Micchelli on his first faculty recital! The program included the premiere of a work for prepared harp and prepared piano, performed with Prof. Brittany Blair, and a performance of "The Immigrant Vegetable," a mono-opera that is simultaneously a live cooking demonstration. The libretto was written by singer .khoi, who also performed the work.

WVU composers heard readings of their collaborative film scores this week! Student composers are working together to score a silent film, and will score individual short films as well. The WVU Film Ensemble will perform a concert of new film scores on April 23 at 8pm in Falbo Theatre.

WVU composition students had a great time at Blues Alley Studios this week recording their original compositions! This recording session is the result of a semester-long collaboration with the WVU Saxophone Studio. Congrats to all performers and composers, and special thanks to Josh Swiger for coordinating the session!

WVU composition students have been busy this semester--Our work so far has included collaborations with the WVU saxophone studio, presentations on professional development with Dr. Micchelli, and a special guest presentation on writing for harp by Prof. Blair! Looking forward to many more performances and collaborations this semester and next! 💙💛
