We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7pm in the Agricultural Sciences Building in room 2010. WVU Collegiate Horsemen's Association is a student organization uniting equine studies students by providing networking, leadership, and service opportunities to prepare students for careers in

the horse industry! Alumni of our student organization are employed in all aspects of the horse industry including farm management, sales, government, veterinary medicine, event management, and more!

Originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia , Vivi is a junior at West Virginia University studying Animal and Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Equine Studies. Other than CHA she is also part of WVU’s western equestrian team, and the ski team. She is currently on the prevet track and aspires to one day become a wildlife veterinarian! 💙💛

Originally from Nitro, West Virginia, Paisley Lamar is a sophomore/junior at West Virginia University studying Animal and Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Equine Studies. She was a part of FFA and 4-H which has helped her find her career path in veterinary medicine and she will be working as a resistant assistant this year.

Originally from Dover, Delaware, Ameid Hussain is a Senior at West Virginia University studying Biochemistry with a minor in Equine Studies. He recently completed an internship with the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia (ACCA), where he had the opportunity to work hands-on with hawks, owls, and other birds while gaining valuable experience in avian conservation and rehabilitation.

First up is Miyah Swiger, Representative and Director of Communications! 📣

Miyah is a Junior at West Virginia University studying Agriculture Extension and Education with a minor in Equine Studies. She is actively involved in the National FFA Organization and is currently representing the West Virginia FFA Association as the West Virginia FFA National Officer Candidate!
In her free time, Miyah enjoys spending time with her friends and helping coach Career Development and Leadership Development Event teams at various FFA chapters across the state!

This week’s graduate is Meghan Byers! She will be graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Equine Studies. During her time at WVU, Meghan has been actively involved in WVU Collegiate Farm Bureau, WVU Ducks Unlimited, and has served as the Director of Communications for the WVU Collegiate Horsemen’s Association.

After graduation, Meghan will continue her education at WVU as she pursues her Master’s degree in Animal Physiology, furthering her passion for the animal industry and commitment to advancing her knowledge!

Meghan’s favorite part of CHA has been the friendships, experiences, and connections she has built along the way, along with the trips and opportunities to explore different parts of the equine industry. These experiences have played a huge role in shaping who she is today and who she strives to be, creating connections and memories that will last a lifetime!

This week’s graduate is Lauren Farry! She will be graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Equine Studies. During her time at WVU, Lauren has been actively involved as President of the Western Equestrian Team, a member of the English Equestrian Team, and an active member of the Pre-Veterinary Club, demonstrating her passion for both the equine and veterinary fields.

After graduation, Lauren plans to pursue a veterinary internship before applying to veterinary school in 2027, continuing her path toward a career dedicated to animal health and care.

Lauren’s favorite part of CHA has been making memories at convention with her friends and the connections it has brought her. These experiences, along with the people she’s met along the way, have made her time in CHA incredibly meaningful and something she will always carry with her.

So grateful for our outgoing officers and everything they’ve poured into CHA this past year—your impact doesn’t go unnoticed!
