Come welcome back the migrant songbirds as they return from their winter ranges!

May 2 and May 9 at 7:30 a.m.

An anticipated annual event, the Mountaineer Audubon spring bird walks will be the last Tuesday in April and the first two Tuesdays in May.

The bird walks are led by members of Mountaineer Audubon who will identify birds by sight and sound for participants and help everyone learn to appreciate the wonder of spring migration. Last year, in the course of four bird walks, over 70 species of birds were seen and/or heard.

These guided tours are free, and will meet in the Arboretum parking lot. Additional free parking is available at the nearby WVU Coliseum. No reservations are needed. Dress appropriately for the weather and for hiking.

More information is available at arboretum.wvu.edu.

With the spring semester ending and summer jobs on the horizon, some students and parents will be looking to buy new and used vehicles. To remind people to think clean cars, the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium will be parking four alternative fuel vehicles near the Evansdale Library on Wednesday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The NAFTC invites students to check out their Toyota Prius plug-in, Nissan Leaf, and Chevy Volt. For techies and mechanically minded students, there will also be a Toyota Prius with a cutaway body that allows students to see various hybrid components. Using an IPad student can scan QR codes that give information on each part. NAFTC staff will answer questions about advanced technology vehicles.

This event is part of National AFV Day Odyssey , a nationwide celebration created by WVU’s National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium to promote the use of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles

West Virginia University will relocate the International Community from Spruce Street to Summit Residence Hall beginning Fall 2017. The decision to move was a difficult one yet rooted in providing the best possible residential experience for our international students.

The move to Summit Hall will allow for the international community to continue to utilize unique programming spaces for special meals and social gatherings, and experience traditional American collegiate environments along with our domestic students.

The Office of Housing and Residence Life will continue to collaborate with other offices and all students to create dynamic opportunities to engage and learn from each other.
