Moving more. Sitting less. Healthier pregnancies.

A study led by WVU School of Public Health researcher Bethany Barone Gibbs found that even light activity, like walking or simply getting up and moving throughout the day, may help reduce the risk of complications such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia during pregnancy. The findings, recently published in JAMA, offer a practical approach to improving maternal health.🤰

🎓 Two graduates. Two unique journeys. One incredible achievement.

For Tracy Smith, balancing a leadership career in healthcare and family responsibilities while earning her MHA led to the fulfillment of a goal years in the making.

For Eric Reed, graduation marked the culmination of a journey that spanned more than two decades, including military service and a career in healthcare.

Their stories reflect the perseverance, resilience and determination that define today’s healthcare leaders. Join us in congratulating Tracy and Eric on earning their Master of Health Administration degrees! 👏

For many graduates of WVU’s online programs, commencement is about more than earning a degree. It is the culmination of years spent balancing careers, families, responsibilities, and coursework while refusing to give up on their goals.

In this story, graduates from across WVU reflect on the journey that brought them to commencement weekend and what it felt like to finally walk across the stage as Mountaineers.

From late nights and career changes to personal growth and perseverance, their stories highlight what makes the online student experience so unique and so meaningful.
