The RPTR program needs your support--right now! As part of WVU's Academic Transformation process, the RPTR program (& many other programs across WVU) is currently under review. You can find info about this process on the WVU website. One potential outcome is program discontinuance. Show your support by reaching out to the higher admin at WVU and let them know how important we are to you (as a current student, alumni, or colleague), as well as the importance of recreation to the state of WV, the nation, and the world. For recent graduates, please see info below for seasonal positions starting out West (but working for WVU) in August!!!

West Virginia University is hiring multiple field interviewers for the National Visitor Use Monitoring Program (NVUM) in 4 National Forests in Oregon (Ochoco NF, Deschutes NF, and Fremont-Winema NF) and Montana (Custer-Gallatin NF). These are temporary positions that run from August 1 to November 1, 2023 with flexibility in the working period possible. Interviewers will be responsible for working 37.5 hours/week (5 days, 7.5 hours per day). Surveys will be conducted at National Forest recreation sites of exiting visitors. Job duties include driving to survey locations, conducting interviews of recreational visitors, keeping visitor counts, and recording and uploading data. Housing in Forest Service bunkhouses, a rental car for transportation, a fuel card, and flights to and from Oregon/Montana are provided.

Congrats to our awesome MS grad students who captured 3 out of the 4 top spots in the Poster competition at the Davis College graduate Student Research Symposium! First place in Research went to Evan Harms, Second place in Research went to Connor Mullins, and First place in Creative Scholarship poster went to Morgan Martin. Rock on!!!
