WVU Family and Community Development The Family and Community Development (FCD) office is a unit within West Virginia University's Extension Service.

CRED is dedicated to providing educational programs and technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of citizens and organizations throughout the state of West Virginia. By utilizing the latest research-based knowledge, strategies, and technology, CRED is capable of helping people understand community change and identify opportunities to improve their social and economic well-being. of finding practical and timely solutions are enhanced by working closely with local communities, organizations, and partnering agencies.

Paying for College: FAFSA & Financial Aid webinar FREE workshop
(This is for community college & trade school also)
Via Zoom 2 part series Mar. 20th & 27th 6-8 pm

This course will break down the financial aid process for adults and their teens. The FAFSA process will be explained, dispel myths, tell you what you need to have ready, and tips for filling out the application. The financial aid process will be explained. What are different sources of financial aid, who can get it (you don't have to be low-income to get financial aid), and where to get aid. The program will also cover types of loans, grants and scholarships, how to know what you can afford, and how to read a financial aid offer letter.
• You must register in advance.
• Spaces will be limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This past weekend Associate Professor Ami Cook led a rural immersion trip with students enrolled in the AHEC Rural Health Scholars program focused on nutrition and food insecurity. Students visited the Risen Lord Food Pantry and the Mountaineer Food Bank to learn about their work and help to pack thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of boxes for individuals and families.
