Join us for the next Bach’s Lunch!

In recent years NSA has taken advantage of their lunch hour by hosting “Bach’s Lunch,” an event where talented students, NSA faculty, and community members perform musical pieces. The audience gets to eat their lunch or do their homework while listening.

The next Bach’s Lunch will be on October 22nd, 12:10-12:50pm at the Nuart Theatre on Main Street. Bring your lunch and enjoy a FREE concert!

Jerusalem Term finals have arrived!

NSA has two different types of finals: written and oral. Written finals are your basic pencil and paper final, but oral finals give students the opportunity to spend time one-on-one with their teacher and demonstrate their understanding of the material verbally.

Our entertainment tells a lot about who we are. Asking someone what type of music they listen to is a very personal question, no matter how much we would like to believe our music does not reflect the type of person we are. Pastor Wilson here cautions us to not deaden our conscious to the entertainment we allow into our lives—those choices should be intentionally God-honoring.

At NSA, we strive to create leaders who will not settle for enjoying the world’s entertainment slop, but will consider carefully what is worthwhile to consume.

Our sophomores are currently diving deep into Herodotus. While most history courses give you a list of historical facts to remember, Dr. Schlect and Dr. Dorney teach students to find the ends, biases, and worldview in how authors present history.

For example, Herodotus wrote so that the wonderful deeds of the great war might not go unsung, and to support Solon’s philosophy: the gods are jealous of human prosperity; therefore, you must look at the end of a man’s life to judge his happiness.

Pastor Toby Sumpter was the keynote speaker at Called Conference 2026. He addressed the students on Christian Heroes of America, beginning with Christopher Columbus.

Columbus should certainly take up more space in our minds than “he sailed in the ocean blue.” Pastor Sumpter points out his life was not a lark—it took faith and patience to achieve his lifelong goal of crossing the Atlantic.

Here at NSA, we strive to raise strong leaders like Columbus who do not abandon the grind, instead forging paths to honor God.

Our Juniors recently finished the Iliad. Homer raises several questions throughout, but the most prominent is “What is the summum bonum?” Throughout the epic, Homer tests whether kleos can be the point of life while he wrestles with the inevitability of death.

It has been exactly a year since Dr. Voddie Baucham went to be with the Lord.

We had the privilege of having him as our lectureship speaker last year, almost two weeks before he passed away. He left us with great words of wisdom.
