Join St. Mary’s for a Music Celebration Concert featuring one of our own faculty members, Indra Thomas, as well as some students from the Berry Singers. Congrats to Dr. Alyssa Grey our Director of Wind Studies and Assistant Professor of Music Education here at Berry who conducted the 11-12 Honor Band for the "Sweet Onion" festival this past weekend. Students from a wide assortment of high schools gathered for this two-day event, culminating in a concert performance on May 2nd in Vidalia, GA.

Assistant Professor of Art, Dennis Ritter, brings a powerful voice to Radical Americana, a citywide initiative led by The Clay Studio. Through research-driven work at the Stenton House Museum, Ritter’s exhibition, Another Place Within, explores the complex history of the land and people who lived at Stenton while connecting pivotal moments in American history to the realities of today.

Part of a collaboration across 25 Philadelphia cultural institutions and 45 artists, Radical Americana invites us to reflect on how the nation’s identity has been shaped—and where it’s headed next.

Melissa King recently took the spotlight as keynote guest for Barter Connects at Barter Theatre, joining Artistic Director (and Berry alumn) Katy Brown and actress Kaylie Kyle for a thoughtful conversation on the layered meanings within Anne of Green Gables. Invited after her published scholarship caught the attention of Playwright-in-Residence Catherine Bush, King brought fresh insight into a beloved classic—bridging audience, performance, and literary analysis.

Beyond the stage, her latest publication in Marvels & Tales explores visual storytelling in Catherine Breillat’s Barbe bleue, uncovering a previously unpublished illustration from The Morgan Library & Museum. Her work continues to push conversations around literature, art, and interpretation into new territory.
