The Department of Women's and Gender Studies stands in solidarity with Black students and other students of color at Berry. The recent protests over the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks and many others have highlighted a systemic issue that our country has held since its founding. We recognize that Black students at Berry do not always feel safe, emotionally or physically, and we take responsibility for our part in keeping Berry from being an inclusive campus. We strive to create safe places in our classes, include diverse voices in our curriculum, and dismantle anti-Blackness from our campus.

The Department of Women's and Gender Studies and corresponding faculty support all students regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, or any other identity. We welcome all questions, concerns, and suggestions on how to do this work better.
