Sometimes, the best career opportunities are the ones you help create.

When CMU marketing and sales student Tyler Harvill finished his summer internship with Fifth Wheel Freight, he wasn't quite ready to leave the experience behind. So, when he learned about an opening in recruiting, he asked a simple question: Could he do the job while finishing his senior year at CMU?

The answer was initially no. But 30 minutes later, the company called back with a new possibility.

That conversation helped launch a campus recruiting role, giving Tyler the opportunity to continue working with Fifth Wheel Freight while helping other students discover internships of their own.

Along the way, Tyler has drawn on the relationship-building skills he developed through CMU's sales program and his leadership in Pi Sigma Epsilon.

What would you say if you had just two minutes to speak on a topic you'd never seen before?

That's the kind of challenge CMU Toastmasters members are taking on as they build their public speaking skills, learn to think on their feet and gain confidence in front of an audience.

At their first meeting of the fall semester, students embraced the theme "Growth Outside Your Comfort Zone," tackling unexpected speaking prompts and encouraging one another along the way.

For members like Niki Osakue, the experience is about more than giving speeches.
“Confidence comes with practice, not perfection,” Osakue said.

CMU senior Lauren Bonomo knows the value of making connections count. A triple major in logistics management, purchasing and supply management, and marketing, she turned a conversation with recruiters at a Supply Chain Management Association event into an internship at Stellantis, one of the world's largest automakers.

Now part of the Stellantis Student Program, Lauren is putting her CMU education to work while continuing to balance academics, campus leadership and cheerleading. Her experience has reinforced the importance of preparation, initiative and personal accountability.

Her advice to fellow students? "Your internship is an interview for the next role."

Eleven countries. Six Greek islands. One unforgettable semester abroad.

For CMU business student Ethan Rauschert, studying abroad in Greece wasn't just about seeing the world. It was an opportunity to experience different cultures, gain new perspectives on business and build connections with people from around the globe.

And thanks to some early planning, he did it all while staying on track with his management and marketing double major.

His advice for students considering study abroad? “Plan early, go early, and participate as much as you possibly can.”

We're a little late with the official welcome, but that doesn't mean it's any less deserved!

Sal Buccellato joined our College of Business marketing and communications team this summer, and while we've kept him busy ever since, we figured it was about time to properly introduce him.

Sal's creative career has taken him from New York City to San Francisco and several places in between. Now, he's bringing that experience, a thoughtful approach to design and a fresh perspective to CMU.

From an unexpected introduction to graphic design to the inspiration he's found along the way, Sal's story is a reminder that career paths aren't always straightforward.

Students from CMU's Business Residential College (BRC) rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at Mount Pleasant's 37th annual Zonta Apple Fest, helping support local families while connecting with the community beyond campus.

For these students, the experience was an opportunity to give back, build relationships and discover how meaningful even a few hours of service can be.
