Cardinal Craft Brewing is bringing home the gold... and silver! 🍻🏆

Skagit Valley College’s Cardinal Craft Brewing students earned two international medals at the 2026 International Beer and Cider Awards:

🥇 Gold Medal: English Dark Mild
🥈 Silver Medal: Robust Porter

The wins bring Cardinal Craft Brewing to 10 competition medals since 2017, including four in just the past two years.

Want to taste the award-winning brews yourself? Both are currently on tap and open to the public at the Cardinal Craft Brewing Academy in Burlington.

Big news for future educators in the Skagit Valley! 🎓🍎

Skagit Valley College has received a $1.4 million grant from Ballmer Group to support the continued growth of Maestros para el Pueblo, a collaborative program helping students pursue higher education and careers in education.

In partnership with Mount Vernon School District, Burlington-Edison School District and Western Washington University, Maestros supports students from high school through college and into the educator workforce.

More than 25 Maestros alumni have already returned to work as teachers and education professionals in Skagit County school districts and at SVC.

The three-year grant will help expand recruitment and retention, strengthen mentoring and advising, increase transfer and bachelor’s degree completion, and prepare even more students for careers serving their communities.

We’re grateful to Ballmer Group and our community partners for investing in students, future educators and the communities they call home. ❤️
