Look at what is happening in Prof. Susannah Biondo-Gemmell’s block 8, Advanced Ceramics course! We had a sgraffito workshop with visiting artist (and alumna), Maddie Althoff. We visited the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass studio and spoke with resident artist (and alumna, again), Emma Burnett. AND, look at all the fabulous work being made by students!

Kai Feitler will be presenting their senior thesis on the scholarship examining the work and identity of Edmonia Lewis on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 1:30 pm in 222 McWethy Hall.

Very proud of our students.

DKW Art Gallery is proud to announce the internship and Artist in Residence of Emily Hiner. Emily has been an artist at the gallery for three years as an associate artist. She first came to the attention of Mark and Deb when, as a high school student, she boldly walked into the gallery one day and asked, “How do I get my art into an art gallery?”
Currently a junior at Cornell College majoring with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Arts, Emily will be working the summer is all aspects of the gallery including teaching multiple classes, updating the web page, bringing the YouTube videos to fruition and day to day business operations.
May 11th will feature a special selling of her Mega Mug Sale on the front lawn of DKW Art Gallery with other a hundred different mugs that she has made over the last few months. All the proceeds from this sale go right into her pocket to help pay college expenses.
In the meantime we invite you to come by the gallery to meet and chat with the emerging artist who one day plans on having her own art gallery. She’ll be busy helping Mark and Deb get better organized but will be glad to spend time with anyone interested in art and improving life.
The first three Summer Camp classes on Emily’s agenda are:
Pinch Pot for Kids – A 3-day class learning the pinch & coiling technique plus decorating.
Pinch Pot for Teens – A 3-day class for the older group
Clay & Diorama Class – A summer camp for teens and above to create a character, scene, and storyline.
Other art classes by Emily and Deb will be forthcoming soon.
