Happy Mole Day, Chemistry Fans!!

I'm a bit late with the customary infographic this year, but better late than never!

In chemistry, the mole makes it easier to describe the huge numbers of atoms, molecules, or ions that participate in chemical reactions.

On October 11, 2026, Chemistry professor Dr. Sundeep Rayat, Dr. Gen Mager from Ball State University Department of Biology , and external evaluator Dr. Megan Mullins presented their poster on their National Science Foundation (NSF) funded S-STEM project at the AAAS - The American Association for the Advancement of Science 2026 S-STEM Scholars & PI Meeting in Washington, D.C.!

Their poster will be displayed on the fourth floor of the Foundational Sciences building for anyone to check out!

⭐️ Spring 2026 Grant Recipient Spotlight ⭐️
We're proud to support Dr. Zhihai Li, recipient of the Indiana Academy of Science Senior Research Grant for the project: Development of Functional Nanomaterials toward the Environmental Remediation

Dr. Li, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Ball State University, is synthesizing nickel tungstate-based semiconductor nanomaterials as photocatalysts for the degradation of environmental pollutants — advancing novel co-catalyst preparation methods and the application of nanomaterials in environmental remediation.
