For this week’s , the Director is taking over the account to give a well-deserved shoutout to our incredible simulation team!

It was truly an “all hands on deck” week in the simulation lab! Our team supported junior and senior nursing students through manikin-based simulations focused on diabetic ketoacidosis and GI bleeding, along with virtual reality simulations exploring childbearing complications and diabetes.

You all were BUSY! 😅

Behind every simulation is a tremendous amount of preparation, coordination, technology, troubleshooting, and teamwork. Please know how much your hard work is appreciated. The experiences you create make a difference in our students’ learning and preparation for nursing practice—and your efforts do not go unnoticed.

We Fly Friday: Seniors take on Critical Cardiac Concepts

Nursing 430 students raced the clock alongside a decompensating cardiac patient in this semester's cardiac escape room simulation. They used critical thinking to modify medications based on assessments, work as a team, and flexed their SBAR muscles!

As we continue celebrating NICU Awareness Month, we're shining a spotlight on Caitlin Williams, RN, BSN, whose passion for caring for our tiniest patients is inspired by the incredible success stories she witnesses every day.

"My why for working in the NICU is the amazing success stories we have. One of my first micro-preemies recently returned to visit us on her first birthday. Seeing her happy, clapping, laughing, and thriving with her family reminded me exactly why I love what I do."

When she's not caring for babies and supporting families, Caitlin enjoys traveling, snorkeling with her husband, spending time with loved ones, and indulging in her favorite Bubble Room cake!

Now, for our last (but certainly not least) spotlight🤩....
Dani Ely began working in the School of Nursing on May 6, 2024 as the Director of the Nursing Simulation and Information Technology Center (NSITC). A Ball State Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate of 2011, she continued her education with a Master of Science in Nursing Education at University of Indianapolis in 2016.

Dani brings 15 years of experience at IU Health, beginning as a volunteer and progressing to the roles of student nurse technician, bedside RN, preceptor, charge nurse in med-surg and critical care, to the role of nurse educator for nurse residency program, then advancing to clinical operations manager of a med-surg unit and finally regional director of nursing practice/nursing professional development.

In just over two years at Ball State, she has led the NSITC team cohesively and with intentionality. She puts her heart into everything she does. A few of her big accomplishments include leading the team in creating a cardiac critical care escape room, developing and implementing a virtual reality program, overseeing the development of a nurse practitioner standardized patient program, managing school social media accounts creatively, being an ambassador for One Ball State Day, and coordinating events for both Nursing and the College of Health.

Dani's leadership encourages others to grow and be their best.
She leads each day with a smile and encouragement to those around her. She fosters a cohesive work culture and brings out the strengths of each member of her team. We are so blessed to have Dani at the helm! Join us in congratulating her for a great beginning at BSU!
