BOO-levard Bash 2026 is officially a wrap! 🎃

We’re grateful to the dedicated student volunteers from the Miller College of Business, our friends and colleagues at the Healthy Lifestyle Center, and our Muncie-based students and visiting medical student residents for coming together to make this year’s event a resounding success!

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to create such a fun and memorable experience for our community. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Last night, we took our Dinner with the Director on the road to Amazing Joe’s!
Once or twice a month, students staying at Maplewood Guest House during their clinical rotations gather for dinner. Some evenings feature locally owned and operated restaurants, while others feature a home-cooked meal prepared by Director David Martin.
These dinners are about more than a meal—they help students build meaningful connections, feel welcomed and at home in the Muncie community, discover the people and places that make our community special, and develop a sense of belonging beyond the academic setting.
And, as you can see, we always have a little fun along the way! We’re grateful for these opportunities to connect, share a meal, and make our students feel at home while they’re here.

Join us at Maplewood Guest House for Boo-levard Bash on Oct. 2 from 5:30-8 p.m.!

We’re excited to make this year’s annual Boo-levard Bash even more special with a NEW experience for our community!

Along with our favorite activities — trick-or-treating and a fun coloring activity for children — we’re partnering with the Healthy Lifestyle Center at Ball State University to bring health and wellness education to the event!

Adults will have the opportunity to learn about and participate in:
*Night-time safety education
*Blood pressure checks A1C & blood glucose education
*Bone density checks
*Hand-grip strength testing
*Social & emotional well-being education

We’re thrilled to welcome students from Miller College of Business, the College of Health, and I.U. School of Medicine, who are looking forward to joining us for this fun annual community event!

Congratulations to our neighbors at Minnetrista Museum & Gardens!

Minnetrista Museum & Gardens has received a $5 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to improve facilities, protect museum collections, restore historic spaces, expand the Bob Ross Traveling Exhibition, and enhance visitor experiences across campus in Muncie, Indiana.

We were pleased to join Ball Brothers Foundation and other community leaders last Thursday for the Optimus Primary Field Trip. This event provided an opportunity to bring stakeholders together for a series of site visits showcasing how Muncie and East Central Indiana—including Maplewood Guest House—are strengthening the healthcare workforce pipeline through innovative partnerships and programs.

Maplewood is proud to contribute to this effort by providing award-winning living-learning accommodations for medical students, as well as high-impact immersive learning opportunities for Ball State University students. Many students leverage the experiences and projects completed at Maplewood to enhance their professional portfolios and resumes.

During the field trip, participants toured Maplewood Guest House (photos unavailable), the Ball State University College of Health, and several other healthcare institutions throughout the region, gaining valuable insight into the collaborative initiatives shaping the future of healthcare education and workforce development.

We were honored to participate in this special 100th anniversary celebration.

Thank you to Ball State University student Maggie Hibbetts for designing the exclusive Ball family/Ball stores fashion collection, and to Indiana University School of Medicine student Erich Ong and Ball State University student Jesse Saunders for leading guest tours throughout the event.

We were grateful to celebrate this milestone with the Ball Brothers Foundation and alongside such talented students and valued community partners.
