AUDITIONS - "Dance Nation" & "Alice by Heart"

Join us tomorrow (August 28) from 6-9pm for our student series auditions! This year we will feature "Dance Nation" and "Alice by Heart," and we're eager to share these beautiful stories with you.

DANCE NATION - Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they’ll claw their way to the top at Nationals in Tampa Bay. A play about ambition, growing up, and how to find our souls in the heat of it all.

ALICE BY HEART - In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

REHEARSALS

With classes beginning right around the corner, we have just begun rehearsals for our Fall productions: Jack's Tale and The Tragedy of Macbeth. See the faces that will soon grace the stage as they get their bearings and settle into their respective worlds. Whether it's the music or the history, we're anxious to see what's next!

WELCOME: 2026 B.F.A. INAUGURAL CLASS

The time is here!! Please give a huge round of applause to our final candidates who received a spot in our first ever B.F.A. Theatre program! Every student who submitted worked very hard, and these chosen few proved that they had the most tenacity and fearlessness to push them the extra mile. Well done!

And just like that, another year of GSFTA is in the books! We couldn't be more ecstatic about this crop of young thespians, and we're excited to see where the arts takes them on their next chapter. Take a look at these snapshots of their time at MTSU!

Dance students had the opportunity to explore the Murfree Springs Wetlands (thank you Denise and Emmie for the tour!) and engage in site-specific improvisational movement. Our first all-school event was “Between Us” by actor, mime, and teaching artist Bill Bowers! Students (and staff) enjoyed captivating storytelling through pantomime - and even got to participate! Our Theatre Performance students had the opportunity to work with Bill in a masterclass on the art of physical storytelling. thank you so much for traveling to TN to share your artistry with our students 🙌🏻🎭

After years of planning and meticulous work, MTSU Theatre and Dance is proud to announce that we now offer multiple BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS degrees, along with our many other opportunities (Bachelor of Science degrees and Theatre, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Entertainment Arts Design minors).
