This 60-credit, fully on-ground program is the first of its kind at a public university in Tennessee, designed for those ready to deepen their craft and expand their creative and professional trajectory.

Whether you are building on your undergraduate foundation, pivoting into film and television, or continuing to grow within the industry, this program offers an immersive environment focused on producing original, high-quality work. Students develop advanced skills across producing, writing, directing, cinematography, and editing while working alongside a collaborative community of creators.

As a terminal degree, the M.F.A. also opens pathways to teaching at the college and university level, positioning graduates to shape the next generation of storytellers.

Rooted in MTSUโ€™s strong industry connections and proximity to Nashville, the program is designed to contribute directly to the growth of Tennesseeโ€™s entertainment sector while preparing graduates for meaningful, sustained careers.

College is more than classes โ€” itโ€™s the people you meet, the experiences you say yes to, and the connections that shape your future. Our students shared why joining a student organization made such a difference in their college experience. Whether itโ€™s building friendships, gaining leadership experience, or finding a community, getting involved can change everything.
