Less than two weeks until the Dean’s Critical Conversation Series event! This event focuses on an important conversation surrounding Special Education, accessibility, and inclusion.“Beyond Access: What Does It Take to Create Inclusive and Accessible Schools for Students with Disabilities?”

The conversation will feature a panel of professionals currently working in the field of Special Education, who will share their experiences, perspectives, and insights on supporting students with disabilities and creating more inclusive educational environments.

We are also excited to have our very own Dr. Alicia Pence, Associate Professor of Special Education, serve as the moderator for the conversation.

Y'all meet Shannon, College of Education Elementary Education major, who was named a prestigious Buchanan Transfer Fellow from the MTSU Honors College.

The Honors College offers the Buchanan Transfer Fellowship, named after MTSU’s Nobel Prize-winning alumnus, Dr. James M. Buchanan. Each year, 30 students entering their junior year receive this top honor.

At a recent Bedford County, TN Schools school kickoff event, College of Education Professor Dr. Lando Carter led two professional development sessions focused on the powerful connection between high expectations and high supports for students.

Bedford County Schools said the sessions received excellent feedback from teachers and administrators and provided valuable insight and strategies to carry into the new school year. Read what grad Dr. Michael Ayalon Founder & CEO of Greek University recently had to say about the Ed.D program here in the College of Education:

“Earning my doctorate in Assessment, Learning, and Student Success in Higher Education at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) fundamentally changed what was possible for me and for Greek University. It gave me the research and assessment skills to open entirely new areas of our business—from qualitative research for national fraternities and sororities, to student life assessment reports that help university leaders make data-informed decisions, to research-based educational programs reaching college students across the country.

My doctorate didn’t just add a credential after my name; it expanded the impact our company can have on higher education. It has also enabled me to contribute to the scholarly conversation in our field, with multiple higher education journal articles forthcoming.”

A huge shout-out to our amazing partners at Homer Pittard Campus School! 💙

Campus School recently met with our College of Education educator preparation faculty to map out another exciting year of collaboration. As a Rutherford County Schools elementary school and a Laboratory School, Campus School plays an invaluable role in preparing the next generation of educators.

This incredible partnership has been going strong for more than 110 years! We are especially grateful for the dedicated mentor teachers who open their classrooms and share their expertise with our students. Your commitment to developing future educators makes such a difference!
