Ahamadou Kamia, or Kamia as he likes to be called, had big dreams.
Dreams of studying accounting.
Dreams of going to college in the U.S.
To turn those dreams into reality, Kamia began by strengthening his English in our ESL Program, a step that changed everything for him.
“When I first arrived in the United States, I didn’t know any English at all. At that time, I felt completely lost, like someone who couldn’t understand anything around them.
But the ESL Program in Murray changed my life.
The teachers were patient, supportive, and always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself yet.
Today, I am proud of how far I’ve come.
My English has improved so much that I can communicate confidently, handle daily life, and even continue my education in college.
I will always remember the kindness of my teachers, the welcoming environment, and the feeling that people truly wanted me to succeed.
My experience in the ESL program didn’t just help me learn English. It gave me confidence, independence, and a new direction for my future. I am deeply grateful for everything I learned here.”
Growth like this doesn’t happen overnight, and it takes more than just a program to make it a reality. Kamia’s own determination, curiosity, and perseverance gave him the strength he needed to keep moving forward.
