Muscle Shoals Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This page is to serve as a means of communication between our chapter and the community.

CHAPTER HISTORY The Muscle Shoals Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was first
envisioned by four Deltas who were close friends: Sorors Felice Green, Dallas Hoskins,
Verdell Martin, and Modene Warren. Felice Green wrote to national headquarters for instructions
on chartering a chapter. Once the information was received, the four friends called all of the
Deltas they knew to ask the

m to attend an organizational meeting at the home of Felice Green. At this meeting, officers were elected and the charter application was completed. The charter
officers were Felice Green, president; *Hellon Feagins, vice president; Thelma Robinson, recording
secretary; Dallas Hoskins, corresponding secretary; *Zuma Cain, treasurer; Dolores Nash, sergeant-atarms;
and *Modene Warren McCall, reporter. Other charter members were Gertrude Lowery, Verdell
Martin, Ruth Mathis, Ella McElroy, *Frankye Minor, *Remelle Napier, *Elmira Nelson, Fannie Smith, and
*Velma Walker. The chapter was officially chartered March 12, 1966, in Florence, AL, by Soror Maggie
McDowell, Southern Regional Director. This page is simply another way to reach out to the community and bringing awareness to issues that affect us as well as the great things we have going on both in and out of the chapter.

Celebrating Sisterhood Month: Embodying Legacy and Leadership

Soror Nell Eggleston

Shoals Habitat for Humanity began in 1985 as a nonprofit housing organization dedicated to transforming lives through homeownership. Since 1993, she has faithfully served the organization after witnessing firsthand the life-changing impact it had on her own family when a relative received House #7 in 1992. Inspired by that experience, she committed herself to helping others achieve the dream of homeownership, beginning with House #8.
Over the past 30+ years, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including committee chair, board member, secretary, treasurer, vice president, past president, and now current president. She has dedicated countless hours to teaching required homeowner classes, conducting home visits, and working on homes during construction — both inside and out — from start to finish.
Through Habitat for Humanity, she has also volunteered with Community Action, Empty Bowl, and the Pancake Breakfast, further extending her service to the community.
To date, 89 homes have been completed, with Houses #90 and #91 currently underway and plans in motion for House #92. For her, nothing is more rewarding than witnessing families receive their keys at home dedications — especially seeing the joy in the eyes of children who now have bedrooms and backyards of their own.
Her service stands as a testament to faith, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to changing lives through homeownership.
