🦁🐒 From NNU to the Zoo! 🦒🐘

We had an incredible time Saturday morning welcoming 70 NNU alumni and friends to Zoo Boise! It was a great opportunity to connect with NNU families and friends, enjoy the zoo together, and celebrate some of the Nighthawks who are making an impact right here in our community.

We were excited to have Dr. David Hille from NNU’s Biology Department join us! Dr. Hille helped connect our group with Kylie Johnson ’24, one of three NNU alumni currently working at Zoo Boise. Kylie took some time to answer questions about her work as a Commissary Associate and give our group a glimpse into what it’s like to work behind the scenes caring for the animals. It was a great example of the connections that make the NNU community so special!

NNU is proud to have three alumni currently working at Zoo Boise:

🦉 Austin Reich ’19 — Volunteer & Interpretation Manager
🦉 Kailynn Anderson ’22 — Zookeeper
🦉 Kylie Johnson ’24 — Commissary Associate

While Austin and Kailynn weren’t working during our visit, it was great to know that three of our alumni are putting their NNU education and passions to work at Zoo Boise.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a fun morning at the zoo! We love finding ways to bring NNU alumni, friends, families, and faculty together—and we’re already looking forward to the next adventure.

What a night at the ballpark! ⚾❤️

Friday’s Boise Hawks game had a little bit of everything—40 combined runs, more than four hours of baseball, and a fantastic postgame fireworks show that capped off the evening.

But the highlight wasn’t the score or the fireworks.

The best part was seeing our NNU Alumni & Friends community come together. Watching alumni, families, and friends reconnect, meet new faces, share stories, and cheer together is what these summer gatherings are all about.

🚨Last Call!🚨Join us this Friday, July 17, for a fun evening of baseball, fireworks and reconnecting with your fellow NNU alumni and friends! We’ll gather at Memorial Stadium in Garden City to cheer on the Boise Hawks, with first pitch at 7:00 p.m. and a fireworks show immediately following the game.
Thanks to a special group discount, adult tickets are just $13 and youth tickets (ages 17 and under) are only $9. Our group will be seated on the shady third-base side, and tickets will be available for pickup at the NNU Alumni & Friends tent before the game. We’ll also have NNU giveaways and stickers for everyone who attends. The first 25 kids (ages 17 and under) to register will receive a FREE NNU t-shirt!

What an incredible week at Nazarene Youth Conference 2026! ❤️

Over the past few days in Salt Lake City, thousands of students gathered for powerful worship, life-changing messages, meaningful conversations, and a renewed focus on following Jesus. We’re grateful to have been a small part of what God is doing in the lives of the next generation.

Our Director of Alumni Relations, Zach Marble, also had the opportunity to reconnect with NNU alumni, visit with longtime friends of the university, and meet many students whose parents are NNU alumni. Those connections remind us that the NNU family continues to grow across generations.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, share your NNU story, or introduce us to your student. We loved seeing so many members of the Nighthawk family and can’t wait to welcome the next generation to campus.
