One week ago, North Central College officially welcomed the Class of 2030 and new transfer students during New Cardinal Convocation.

The incoming class of 1,100 new Cardinals includes 628 first-year students, 322 transfer students and 150 graduate students, representing communities across the country — from Washington to Maine and 25 states in between — as well as 30 countries around the world.

“New Cardinal Convocation marks the beginning of your journey here,” said President Abiódún Gòkè-Paríolá. “The end will be Commencement: when you will walk across the stage — in this very same space — as a graduate of North Central College.”

In early 2024, Alivia Henkel survived cardiac arrest and wasn’t sure if she would ever compete again. Her first question to her family was simple: “Can I still play sports?”

Today, she’s a proud national champion after winning the 400-meter hurdles last year with a personal-best time of 1:03.13. Read more about Alivia’s incredible journey of resilience and determination to make an inspiring comeback below.

An exciting update on the North Central College Riverwalk Park, indeed!

We’re sharing an exciting North Central College Riverwalk Park construction milestone! Crews recently poured the concrete for the new pathway along the south bank of the DuPage River. It will lead from the Washington Street sidewalk to the Moser Covered Bridge, connecting the Riverwalk to the college and downtown Naperville. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, the park will open by the end of October. This project is a collaboration between the City, North Central College and the Naperville Park District.
