Vanderbilt Marching Invitational The Vanderbilt Marching Invitational (VMI) is an annual marching band competition held by the Vanderbilt University "Spirit of Gold" Marching Band.

The Vanderbilt Marching Invitational is an annual, nationwide high school marching competition. High School bands from around the country are invited and selected to compete with each other. the Vanderbilt Marching Invitational serves as a part of an effort to preserve the marching arts for high school students. The contest strives to provide a fun, educational, professional, and appropriately com

petitive environment for each high school marching band in attendance. VMI is an entirely student-run competition, hosted by the Vanderbilt "Spirit of Gold" marching band. All proceeds from the event go towards a supplementary scholarship for band members.
