Character Rotations and Storyboards in Book Publishing 🖌️📖

In Maureen O'Brien‘s Book Publishing Illustration class, students are tasked with creating their own picture books/book dummies to present at the end of the semester.

💬 Savannah gives us insight into their process:

“We’re working on a project on creating our own story for a book. Right now we’re working on our character rotations of those who will appear in our story.

What inspired for my story is fantasy. Growing up I always loved fantasy stories and such like lord of the rings and movies like howls moving castle and I want my story and characters to show that side for people to enjoy and feel like they exist in my world.

Once we’re done with our character rotations, we will soon begin working on our pages and start giving them more details and bring them to life.”

Nossi Culinary visits 🍴🛒

Chef Rebecca Burney took her Restaurant Operations and Menu class to the Restaurant Depot in Nashville, where they learned how to cost, shop, and budget as small business owners in a practice setting. This experience showed them a store specially made for restaurants and business owners, so they can one day have that resource.

Grab a chair, it's time to critique! 🖌️

In Laird Ogden's Sequential Art class, students took initiative to replace the regular class setup with a round circle of chairs, offering a closer and more hands-on environment to critique each other's' work.

Students shared early drafts for storyboards for an upcoming assignment with their peers. This is good for the iterative process that comes with art and storytelling, and makes our students better as a result!
