The Belmont campus community is mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, actor and philanthropist, who died Aug. 25. Over the past two years, Belmont had the rare privilege of knowing Parton not only as an icon to admire, but as a partner whose generosity and creativity created lasting opportunities for its students.

Entrepreneurship Professor Dr. Rachel Wilson was quoted this week in a CNN article breaking down the massive cultural and financial footprint of Dolly’s business empire—from tourism and entertainment to regional job creation in Tennessee. 📈🎶 Dr. Wilson and four additional Massey Faculty, have been involved with the launch and expansion of Dolly U on the Belmont campus. Dolly U created opportunities for students to study the creativity, entrepreneurship and generosity that defined her career. Two Dolly U business classes are in progress this fall, but Dolly's lasting impact will no doubt be felt for across campus, Tennessee and the world for years to come. 🦋

💡Today's Alumni Spotlight is Brandy Neely (BBA '03 | MAcc '04)!💡
Brandy serves as Chief Operating Officer for LBMC Technology Solutions. As COO, it is Brandy's responsibility to execute the company vision and improve overall organizational processes. She is also charged with equipping team members with tools needed to succeed in their roles!

🏫On Choosing Belmont:
"In high school, I attended Tennessee Business Week camp at Belmont. My family was fortunate enough to be friends with a member of the board who later brought me to Belmont for an official tour and meeting with the business school. I immediately felt at home and knew Belmont was the place for me."

🎓On Her Belmont Experience:
"Life changing to say the least! I knew absolutely no other students when I stepped foot onto campus as a freshman. That quickly changed. The students and faculty made a lasting impression on me. So much so that I came back for a semester as an adjunct professor a few years ago. If I had the extra time, I would still be teaching at night! As a student, I literally felt like the faculty were my family."

✈️Favorite Memory of Belmont:
"I loved everything about my experience. Being a member of the Belmont Accounting Association was a highlight. I made lasting friendships through the accounting program. My best friend to this very day was introduced to me through the accounting program. Dr. Lee Warren, Dr. Jane Finley, Dr. Jane Dillard-Eggers, and Dr. Susan Williams were all amazing and I will always be indebted to them for their compassion and guidance. Since graduating from Belmont, my Massey experience and long-lasting relationships have continued to help me advance in my career!"

Our newest batch of Massey Graduate Business alumni are heading into the workforce! 🎓🌟

We were honored to celebrate our graduates during their August Hooding Ceremony! Only 15% of the US population earn graduate degrees and doing so while balancing professional and personal lives is no small feat. Watching our students receive their academic hoods surrounded by faculty, family, and peers is always bittersweet.
